Pet Photography and Beyond

Arica is back for a second year after her 2018 class was sold out.  Students said “It was so much more than just a Pet Photography class! Arica is a great business person and we learned so much about creating a loyal client following, pricing for profit and the power of keeping things simple.”  Arica has experience running a successful and profitable pet photography business in a luxury retail storefront, as well as, a mobile business as she travels from state to state shooting portrait sessions.  The first half of each day will be spent in the classroom.  Learn Arica’s client experience from start to finish from the first phone call to delivering printed portraits.  See how Arica conducts profitable sales sessions either in-person (if you have a studio space) or remotely via screen sharing (if you’re a mobile photographer).  Get the behind-the-scenes scoop on Arica’s workflow, editing techniques, and her most productive avenues for low-cost high-return marketing.  The second half of each day will be spent shooting.  Arica will explain pet psychology to make your portrait sessions with pets more controlled and less chaotic.  Arica will do live shooting indoors and outdoors with a variety of pets and owners so you can see the flow of sessions, how she instructs pet owners during shoots and how she poses families.  Students will have the opportunity to live shoot with Arica’s guidance to understand her thought process and timing when photographing animals.  Finally, expand your photography artistry and increase profits by learning how Arica turns a photograph into a digitally painted art piece using Corel Painter.  Arica will show you step-by-step how to create custom hand-painted digital backgrounds with depth, which brushes she uses for fur texture, and how to bring life to your subjects eyes.
